Honor 10 Arrives with a Notch, Runs on Kirin 970

Honor, a Huawei sub-brand which is a completely separate company launched its 2018 flagship: The Honor 10. The Huawei sub-brand has been pretty popular with its devices in the recent years. Honor devices are mostly on the lower spectrum when it comes to prices but offer great value for money. Company’s last year compact flagship Honor 9 impressed a lot of tech geeks with its sleek style and great performance. Honor’s this year device seems no exception. The device is crafted beautifully with glass on both sides. The phone is basically a blend of Huawei’s P20 and the Honor 9. The device picks up its style elements from the last year’s Honor 9 and also it borrows a notch from this year’s P20.

The Honor 10 will be arriving in a couple of variants. The device has been launched in China and will be globally launched on May 15.

Starting with the specifications:

The Honor 10 is powered by the Kirin 970, which is made by Huawei itself. The SoC is the most powerful processor in Huawei’ lineup of processors. The Honor 10 sports a 5.85-inch fullHD+ IPS LCD display with a resolution of 2280*1080. The new display has very thin bezels and sports a notch on the top. Considering the screen size, the phone is quite compact and can be easily held, thanks to the rounded corners. The device will arrive in two storage variants, which can be purchased with 6GB of RAM. The two storage options available are 64GB or 128GB. All of this top notch hardware will be drawing power from the 3,400 mAh battery inside the device. The device will be running EMUI 8.1 which is a custom skin built on top of Android Oreo 8.1.

On the back, the device features a dual camera system powered by 16-megapixel (f/1.8 aperture) and 24-megapixel (f/1.8 aperture) snappers. On the front is a 24MP (f/2.0 aperture) sensor which is expected to take superb quality pictures. On the bottom of the display, you can find the fingerprint scanner. The device also features the face recognition technology which uses the front-facing camera on the device.

As the device has been announced in China, availability and price details are available for the Chinese market. The 6GB variant with 64GB storage is the price at 2599 Yuan ($414) and the variant with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage comes at 2999 Yuan ($478).
