Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be unveiling the MI 6X at its April 25 event in China. The announcement post claims that the phone will sport 20MP dual cameras. However, according to earlier reports by XDA-Developers, the phone will sport a 20MP camera on the front with 20MP + 12MP dual camera setup on the back.
The specs:
The smartphone has been tipped to be powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor which seems like a great update from its predecessors. The device might be launched as MI A2 globally. Last year Xiaomi launched the MI 5X in China which was launched as MI A1 globally with Android one program. The device is further expected sports 4GB to 6GB of RAM with 32GB to 128GB of onboard storage. The display is expected to follow the new trend company has already adopted with this year’s phones, that is 18:9 displays.
The photography department gets a bump up compared to last year’s camera setup. The phone might sport 12MP and 20MP f/1.8 dual camera combination. The previous gen MI 5X/A1 featured a dual camera setup with two 12MP shooters (f/2.2 and f/2.6). The new device wouldn’t have a telephoto lens this time, but Xiaomi will implement the Portrait mode in the device. The front camera is expected to be the 20MP f/2.2 camera. The device will feature an LED flash on both rear and front.
Coming to software the device will be running on 8.1 Oreo with MIUI 9 which is Xiaomi’s custom skin. If the device will be launched globally it is expected to follow last year traits. The phone globally might be launched with the Android One program. Xiaomi has already revealed their plans of launching at least six new smartphones in India. They have already launched the Redmi 5, Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. The MI 6X/A2 will be replacing last year’s MI A1 in the MI family in the same mid-range segment. The price of the MI 6X is also expected to fall in the same category.
