OnePlus, as a smartphone company, has been delivering pure quality in terms of smartphones and at just the right prices. Just the fact that buyers get flagship level hardware at a fraction of the cost makes OnePlus devices one of the most coveted smartphones in the market.
However, the reason for OnePlus’s success isn’t just affordable flagship hardware. Although a custom ROM, OnePlus’s Oxygen OS is better than stock Android experience when it comes to certain things. There is hardly any bloatware preinstalled on the OnePlus devices. Also, Oxygen OS delivers an almost identical experience as a stock Android but with certain helpful tweaks. This is also the reason why OnePlus devices are one of the fastest devices to receive the latest Android updates. They only pale in comparison to Google’s own Pixel devices.
The Announcement:
This Christmas OnePlus announced the much awaited OTA update of Android 9.0 Pie for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T devices. These devices are a year old now and OnePlus has already released two phenomenal devices this year, the OnePlus 6 and the OnePlus 6T. The latter even sports the widely accepted “tear-drop” notch which is really minimal unlike other notches in many other smartphones. The OnePlus 6 comes with Android Oreo (Android 8.0) based Oxygen OS out of the box. However, OnePlus 6T comes with Android Pie (Android 9.0) based Oxygen OS out of the box. OnePlus announced the Pie update for OnePlus 6 earlier in September this year. This left many OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users a bit disappointed and left out. However, the company sticking to its “Never Settle” motto declared the update for older OnePlus devices on Christmas.
The Never Settle spirit has a sweet treat for OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users! Get your slice of Android Pie today. https://t.co/RhvunlG69l pic.twitter.com/TkT7n7TvWe
