Elon Musk Tweets About The Boring Company’s First Tunnel Launch in US

The billionaire technology entrepreneur Elon Musk recently tweeted a picture of a tunnel. The picture has the mention of “The Boring Company”, “December 18” and “Hawthorne, CA”. The tweet indicated the upcoming launch of the first tunnel by Elon Musk’s infrastructure and tunnel construction firm under Los Angeles. The Boring company previously announced the launch of this tunnel on 10^th December. But they postponed the launch. The company has promised to offer the first public test ride with electric transport system inside the tunnel.

Earlier this October, Musk announced that the company has completed their first test tunnel and are ready to launch it on 10th December. Musk stated that the company is building a watchtower at the exit of the tunnel.

The Boring company will also be building a high-speed link from downtown Chicago to the soon-to-be-expanded O’Hare Airport. This is called “loop“. In their website, they described “Loop” as a high-speed underground public transportation system. According to them, the passengers can be transported at a speed of 200-240 kilometres per hour. They are going to use autonomous electric skates to achieve this speed.

About the Electric Skates:-

According to the website of the Boring Company, the electric skates will be able to carry between 8 to 16 passengers (with their luggage). The design of these skates is based on the design of Tesla Model X. Tesla Model X recently became the first and only SUV to achieve NHTSA 5-star safety rating in every category. That is why according to the company there will be no issue with the safety of the passengers in these electric skates.

In order to implement this system, the company will have to dig the tunnels and deploy the infrastructure to get those “autonomous electric skates” moving inside the tunnels.
