It’s been just a little over two weeks since we entered 2021, and new smartphone leaks have already started pouring in. According to a report from AndroidHeadlines, a leaker named WhyLab has shared an image on the Chinese social networking site Weibo that allegedly reveals the successor of Asus ROG Phone 3. The leaked image shows the Asus’ upcoming gaming smartphone’s back with a redesigned rear panel.
It is not yet clear what this new ROG Phone will be named because there’s some stigma attached to the number 4 in China. So, the Asus ROG Phone 3 successor will likely not carry the number 4. We assume that it will be called Asus ROG Phone 5, which upon close inspection, the image also seems to confirm.
Upcoming Asus ROG Phone Might be Called ROG Phone 5
If you don’t know, Asus has already confirmed in the past that it will indeed bring the successor to its gaming smartphone, the Asus ROG Phone 3, this year. The leaked image suggests the launch is not too far, and we may see the phone hitting the market anytime soon. According to the image, the successor of ROG Phone 3 might sport a redesigned back panel. While looking at the leaked image closely, you can see the number “05” written on the rear panel, meaning that the upcoming phone will indeed be called Asus ROG Phone 5.
Further, the ROG (Republic of Gamers) logo appears at the bottom left corner of the rear panel. There’s also a white stripe in the middle of the back panel, which most likely will light up when the phone is on. Apart from this, the leaked image shows a red button at the bottom left corner of the upcoming phone. At the moment, we don’t know what this button will do, but we assume that pressing it might activate the gaming mode.
Additionally, the polygonal camera module shows the Asus ROG Phone 3 successor may come with a triple rear camera. We believe it’ll house a 64-megapixel primary sensor. Notably, an upcoming ROG Phone with model number ASUS_I005DA has also appeared on China’s 3C certification body website. The website listing shows that the phone will come with 65W fast charging.
Note that these are just our speculations based on the leaked image, and things may turn out entirely different too. So, let’s wait for some more weeks as we’ll get to know more about it when the phone expectedly launches in China as early as March.
