Apple Being Ready for Their Upcoming Event
On Monday, Apple invited media at the Steve Jobs Theater on 25th March. Most probably, Apple will launch its television and video service in this upcoming event.
From the previous leaks, people expected that Apple will most probably target the month of April to launch their streaming television service which will include subscriptions for different services. Apple often launches its products and services within a few weeks following an event.
However, Apple said nothing about the event. Neither, they gave any hint about the event. Apple just gave a single line description: “it’s show time.”
What do we know about this service?
For a long time, Apple has been trying to launch a video service. There are estimates that Apple has spent $2 billion in Holywood to produce its own content. Sources following this thread for a long time informed that the service may resell subscriptions from CBS, Viacom and Lions Gate Entertainment’s Starz among others. There also will be Apple’s own original content.
The TV service is expected to launch globally, which will compete against some well-established services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Videos. Most probably the app will be exclusive to only to Apple’s App Store.
Apple is currently in discussion with HBO to convince them to become a part of their service.
There is a chance that Apple will update its Apple TV later this month. But according to trusted sources, this is going to be the first major media event of Apple where hardware won’t be the main focus.
On the other hand, earlier this year Apple made its music service Apple Music to work on Smart Speakers to compete with rivals like Amazon. Apple has also teamed up with Samsung to let Samsung Television Owners to watch videos purchased from Apple on Samsung sets.
